Fragrances have always been a necessity and equally a love in my life. The thought of fragrances being nonexistent for me, spirals my emotions into a world wind of nonconformance. I can recall with olfactive memories, good times and tough times. It’s as if a smell can bring you right back to that place, same age, and same crowd… a genuine déjà vu moment! Even with the love that I had for fragrances at an early age, life would lead me in a different route regarding a career.

At the age of 19, I began to work in the oil and gas industry. Perfumery was not a known or understood art form where I am from, so I did not even second the idea of becoming a perfumer. The oil and gas industry landed me the opportunity to travel abroad, to utilize specific skills that I had developed over the years. One of my most memorable trips abroad, brought me to Oman.

Being in the Middle East, I had the chance to bear witness to how perfumes were worshipped there. Beautiful stores were set up with gorgeous displays of apothecary jars housing perfume oils with eye gouging strength. Ouds, Musk’s, and Roses, were all masterfully blended. Incense were being burned. It was quite the experience, almost erotic in a perfume loving kind of way. It was Oman that ignited my passion for perfumery even more, and attached a clearer prospective and respect for the art form to my subconscious.

After my trip to Oman and witnessing how well fragrances were received there, I set out to create a space to offer the same thing in my home town. Years of research, trial and error, wasted money, compliments, negativity, all hovered over and around me. Even with the occasional praise that I got from some, I knew that there was still something better out there. Something beyond buying perfume oils online. I wanted to be set apart. Eventually, an opportunity presented itself to deploy to Europe for services required in the North Sea. While about at a festival in Amsterdam, I could smell the aroma of a boozy, creamy, rich ambery substance. This says a lot because if anyone knows Amsterdam, then they know that it reeks of... well anyway. Ironically enough the conversation began. Here we are today.
